This is the first edition, fourth impression of The Hobbit, printed in 1946. This is the last printing of the first edition. Given its age, this copy is in excellent condition, with very clean boards and strong binding. There are a few small bumps on the boards and some foxing on the page edges and on the front map. Otherwise, this is one of the nicest first edition copies I’ve seen. This copy comes with a facsimile dust jacket of the fourth impression.
