Externally, smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and light bumping to the board tips. Fading to the spine and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. The first front endpaper has a penciled note at the top: "Presentation copy from Victor Hugo to Jules Simon" Measures 9 1/2 x 6 3/8 inches with leather spine and title label, raised spine bands, top page edge gilt, 323 pages. A collection of poetry describing the author's feelings of being a grandfather. After the death of his son and daughter in law, Hugo became the guardian of their two young children. Thank you.
